Viking Dishwasher Repair
Panel-ready Viking dishwashers that leak, drain poorly, or stop answering the control strip along the top edge of the door.
How it gets described
The call, in the caller's words
- Buttons on the top edge not responding
- Detergent door staying shut through the wash
- Water on the floor only after a heavy load
- Cycle taking far longer than it used to
On the visit
What actually gets measured
- Fill volume and inlet valve behaviour on a timed fill
- Drain pump draw and the non-return valve at the sump
- Control ribbon and membrane response along the top edge of the door
- Door seal and hinge tension, and where the steam has been escaping
- Wash arm bearings, spray pattern and the filter stack
Three steps, same as every call
-
01
The plate and the symptom
Model and serial off the rating plate, plus what the appliance is actually doing. Half of these calls are narrowed to two or three candidates before anyone is dispatched.
-
02
Measured, not guessed
Gas pressure at the manifold, element and sensor resistance, cavity temperature against the set point, pump and valve behaviour on a dishwasher. Numbers, taken in your kitchen.
-
03
One number, then the work
Parts and labour quoted together and agreed before anything is opened. If the sensible answer is that the repair is not worth doing, that is the answer you get.
What it costs
$95
Flat service call. It covers the visit and the full diagnosis, and it comes off the bill in full if you approve the repair.
And where the repair itself usually lands
- Igniter or burner assembly $290$610
- Oven thermostat or heating element $230$780
- Control board or touch panel $360$850
- Dishwasher pump or control $280$1,250
- Refrigeration fan or defrost system $290$750
- Compressor or sealed-system repair $1,110$2,520
Parts and labour together, quoted before anything is opened. A comparable replacement appliance runs $7,170 to $12,390 before delivery, fitting or cabinetry, which is why most of these repairs are still the cheaper answer.

On dishwasher repair
The detergent door stayed shut right through the wash, so nothing came out properly clean and we had been rewashing by hand. The release solenoid had stuck. He replaced it and cleared a hard build up of old powder from the dispenser recess.

Cycles were taking roughly twice as long as they used to. The heater circuit was weak, so the machine kept extending itself to reach temperature. A new element and the wash times went straight back to normal.

Water on the floor, but only after a heavy load. He traced it to the seal at the bottom corner of the door and a lower rack sitting proud and deflecting spray. Small fix, and he dried out the cabinet base.
